It was still cold and rain clouds were threatening throughout session.
Hip flexors fatigued during walkover drills. Right hip is still not fully recovered from December injury.
My aim was to finish today’s session as last time I did this session I only managed 4x150m (in spikes)
Calves again very tight after session.
It was good to have mark training again as today was his first session back on track since New Year’s Day.
Lots of people I know are already competing this season and running fast time. I have to stay patient and not rush into it like I did last year.

It was good to be back in spikes. Felt a lot faster than previous sessions. Very strong wind in my face added to the resistance. The aim was 6x 150, however calf started to cramp on walk back so stopped after 4 reps .
Spent a lot of time chatting before training as I was back at my old track and I saw a few familiar faces all be it a little older

No marathon for me

Today’s session: 13/4/14
Jog 1000m
Hill run 280m
Hill run 120m
6x60m hill sprints
800m jog cool down

Watched the start of the marathon and felt guilty for sitting on my butt while so many people are doing great things.
Only out for about 1hour .
Drive hard on the 60m sprints and as a result I fear I have a slight strain in my left hamstring.

I have had a busy week so really wanted to train but did not fancy running on my own so opted for a session at local track.
I warmed up well and was ready to go but no one else was. It was an hour of drills and warming up before the session started … In my opinion not everyone warmed up properly and that would explain why only 4of10 finished the session. I decided to wear trainers for the session as I want to protect my lower legs.
I did not push hard on the shortest reps as I did not want to injure myself, and I felt strong on the longer reps around other athletes wearing spikes. The recovery time between sets was far longer than I am used to so fitness was not an issue..
Asked the coach if she would be offended if I made the reps longer and she was more than happy.
Can’t wait for the warm weather so I can start speeding up…
The key is to be injury free.
